Residents of New Town Kolkata will soon have a more convenient way to pay property tax, mutation fees, and access various municipal services through the official website of the New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA). This upgrade aims to eliminate the current challenges faced while using the e-district portal, which is known for frequent technical glitches and delays.
An NKDA official stated,
“We are creating a dedicated digital platform embedded into the NKDA website. Many residents reported facing issues while paying property tax and other municipal fees through the current e-district portal.”

Presently, users are redirected from the NKDA site to the e-district portal, which is a generic platform for all urban local bodies in West Bengal. However, this portal does not align seamlessly with NKDA's specific requirements, leading to server issues and technical errors.
With the launch of NKDA’s standalone platform, property tax payments in New Town are expected to become faster, easier, and more reliable. The system is being developed with user experience in mind and will be tailored specifically to NKDA's municipal operations.
Meanwhile, Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation, which governs Salt Lake and Rajarhat Gopalpur, is planning to introduce the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS). This will serve as an additional digital payment mode alongside existing online and offline options.
